Sano Swim

Sustainability

  • We work with Italian Carvico ECONYL® - infinitely recyclable fabric made from ocean waste, like ghost fishing nets.

“8 million tons of waste end up in our seas every single year.

640 thousand tons of fishing nets are abandoned at the bottom of the ocean. (data sourced from FAO and UNEP)

Such alarming data tell us that, unless the situation changes, by 2050 our seas may contain more garbage than fish.

We need to change our approach radically, cohabiting with Nature in the best possible way, and considering the importance of a limited resource such as water. We need to be more deeply aware of this situation and change our mentality completely.” (carvico.com)

Choosing to shop with Sano Swim, you help clear up our oceans, support a series of different charities as well as plant trees to offset any carbon emitted through the process.

    So thank you!

  • Our mailers are biodegradable and compostable, our bags are reusable and are made from organic cotton which is a much more sustainable option compared to other cotton fabrics.

  • We work closely with Bali’s only solar-powered swimwear factory where they automatically donate proceeds from every piece we purchase to organisations that support the environment, women’s access to education and those in need - such as ROLE Foundation, BALI WISE and SOS Indonesia -. They have also implemented business development and hiring practices that raise the standards for women, health and income in the industry.

All pieces are made to order, reducing waste and raw materials held in stock.

  • We are happy to announce that we have partnered with One Tree Planted to plant mangroves!

One Tree planted is a nonprofit that is dedicated to global reforestation. They plant trees to restore nature and biodiversity. They also raise awareness about the importance of trees, offer businesses like ours a simple sustainability solution, and motivate younger generations to do something positive for the environment.

We plant mangroves to offset our carbon that we emit through our shipping process.

    Why Mangroves?

    • Mangroves store 5-10 times more carbon than land ecosystems.

    • Mangrove forests protect an estimated 341 threatened species around the world.

    • Mangroves act as natural barriers against rising tides and storm surges

    … and much more
