Sano began in a very simple way.

Before it was a brand, I was an athlete looking for direction. The ocean was where I spent most of my time; swimming, diving, moving. It was where I felt most like myself.

The first Sano pieces were created because my mother needed swimwear for her wellness space. What started as a practical project quickly became a creative outlet, and quietly, something more.

For a long time, I struggled with my self-image. When I finally became comfortable in my own body. Not by changing it, but by accepting it. I realised I wanted to create swimwear that could help other women feel the same: comfortable, confident, and at ease in their own skin.

The name Sano comes from Latin, meaning health, wholeness, and soundness. To us, it represents feeling at home in your body.

As someone who lives in the ocean, I could never find swimwear that was both truly functional and genuinely beautiful. I wanted pieces you could move in, swim in, and live in, without sacrificing elegance, comfort, or quality. So we made them.

Our fabric is unlike anything I had felt before: soft, supportive, and designed to move with the body. The cuts are clean, considered, and designed to last. Pieces that don’t fight your body, they work with it.

Sano’s next chapter began when Ella and I met through work. We later discovered we had once worked in the same place at the same time, years before, without ever meeting. When we finally got in touch, I was in India and she was in the UK and our first meeting was in Italy, on set of our campaign shoot.

Together, we rebuilt Sano from the ground up, starting with the fabric, the fit, and the feeling of the pieces.

Today, Sano is for women who live actively but appreciate timeless design.

Who value quality over trends.

Who want to feel comfortable, confident, and themselves.

This is Sano.

A return to self.
